A king is making his presence felt

After dealing long time gunner, Jeff Chan to the Phoenix Fuel Masters and with Gabe Norwood and Raymond Almazan on loan with Gilas Pilipinas at the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon, the Rain or Shine Elastopainters felt it was time to loosen up their rotation and give their new players, including new import J’Nathan Bullock, a feel of coach Caloy Garcia’s dribble-drive system.

The result was a 94-86 victory over Kia Picanto, Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, ROS' first game after two separate trades.

Elastopainters new recruits include Ed Daquioag, acquired in exchange for Mike Tolomia from Meralco, veteran forward Mark Anthony Borboran, acquired from the Chan trade with Phoenix and recent Governor’s Cup signee, Fil-Am free agent Jerramy King.

King, a 6 foot guard drafted in the 4th Round by NLEX in 2015, saw action for over 8 minutes against KIA where he registered a solid line of 5 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.

Before heading to Rain or Shine, King was with TNT Katropa as a practice player but failed to make it to their final roster. King had stints with AMA Online Education Titans in the PBA DLeague, where he once scored a league record of 40 points against Cagayan Valley, and with Pilipinas MX3 Kings in a Southeast Asian regional league.

He played NCAA Division I basketball in the United States from 2009 to 2011 for the Long Beach State 49ers where he had Phoenix Fuel’s resident import, Eugene Phelps as his teammate. During his fourth and final college season, he played for California State University East Bay, an NCAA Division II school.

Armed with quickness, athleticism and a soft outside touch, King should be a valuable contributor to Rain or Shine especially in their dribble-drive system.
