Cignal-Ateneo goes for the kill

CIGNAL-Ateneo looks to sweep Valencia City Bukidnon-SSCR in their 2019 PBA D-League semifinals showdown on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Blue Eagles asserted themselves in Game and routed the Golden Harvest 105-67 in Game One in a game pitting two top seeds.

But the reigning UAAP champions know well their 38-point victory does not mean anything at this level.

"We're not expecting an easy game. The final score (in Game 1) doesn't show the fight our opponents have and the fight they have left. We'll prepare for them and they deserve the best because they're a good team," said deputy coach Sandy Arespacochaga.

Game 2 of the best-of-three series is set at 2 p.m.

Valencia-SSCR, meanwhile, needs all the help it could get to have a strong chance to tie the series.

"Kailangan namin ng ibang mag-step up dahil alam naman natin kung gaano kalakas ang Ateneo," said coach Egay Macaraya as the Golden Harvest fight for their lives and aim to extend the series to a winner-take-all Game Three next week.
