Cignal-Ateneo seeks to strengthen grip on top spot

CIGNAL-Ateneo eyes to strengthen its grip at the pole position of the Aspirants Group when it faces McDavid Tuesday in the 2019 PBA D-League at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

The Blue Eagles are riding a three-game winning run and have seized the top spot with their 5-1 record, but coach Tab Baldwin refuses to be content, especially with how lackluster his side's execution has been.

"We just couldn't execute our principles defensively," he rued after his side's 88-66 win over St. Clare College Virtual Reality last Tuesday.

"We have to go back to basics, play like we want to win the game, and play like any good team."

Ivorian center Ange Kouame set a new PBA D-League record by grabbing 15 offensive rebounds after hauling down 29 in the game but he's expected to be a marked man in the 3 p.m. duel before the league goes to a short Holy Week break.
