San Sebastian seeks to extend 4-game win streak, clinch semis seat against Letran

APEX Fuel-San Sebastian and Wangs Basketball @26-Letran collide on Monday in the 2022 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig with their respective postseason fates hanging in the balance.

It will be a high-stakes battle between the Golden Stags and the Knights at 3 p.m. as the results of this game may decide where they land in the playoffs.

For Apex Fuel-San Sebastian, a win could mean a top two finish which comes with an outright semifinals berth as it currently sports a 4-1 card.

Ichie Altamirano, Romel Calahat, and the rest of the Golden Stags surely want that as they look to sustain their four-game win streak and avoid any more complications with one more game left in their schedule against Adalem Construction-St. Clare on Tuesday.

"Very happy kami sa tinatakbo ng mga bata kaya sana magtuloy-tuloy na ito," said coach Egay Macaraya after his side's 71-62 win over CEU last week.

Meanwhile, the Knights still want to keep their hopes up for that aforementioned top two seat with Fran Yu and Brent Paraiso both determined to help their side rebound from their 81-75 loss to CEU on Thursday.

"Pagod yung mga bata. We know we can play better kaya kailangan lang mapahinga nitong mga ito dahil malapit na rin yung mga importanteng laban namin," said coach Bonnie Tan.

At 3-2, Wangs-Letran has little room for error if they still want to gain that automatic semifinals berth.

Lose and the Knights are still not out of the woods yet as they will still have Builders Warehouse-UST in their schedule on Tuesday which could be a virtual elimination game -- not the kind of game you want to have on a second night of a back-to-back. (RL)
