St. Clare looks to finish off CEU to clinch Final berth

BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare looks to finish off Centro Escolar University in Game Two of the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup semifinals Monday at Paco Arena in Manila.

The Saints have drawn first blood last week through their 86-70 conquest last Thursday that extended their winning streak to eight this conference, and they now go for the jugular when they meet the Scorpions at 3:30 p.m.

"Gusto na namin tapusin para maka-Finals ulit. Pero sinasabi ko, one game at a time," said coach Stevenson Tiu.

Sending CEU packing would mean so much for the St. Clare guys such as Mohammed Pare, Junjie Hallare, and Joshua Fontanilla, as they can finally avenge their semifinal loss to the Scorpions last conference.

"Gusto nila din makabawi sa CEU dahil na out sila last conference. Yun yung challenge sa kanila," Tiu said.

But it will not be easy, as standing on their way is a Scorpions side that are also eyeing revenge.

Malick Diouf and Rich Guinitaran know how to take down the Saints since they had already done so back in the Aspirants' Cup, and they'll look to impart that knowledge to their younger teammates as they aim to send the series to a decider.

Coach Derrick Pumaren, however, only hopes that his young team will not get intimidated, since BRT Sumisip-St. Clare have beefed up its squad with the addition of former D-League champion Alfred Bati?o and Hesed Gabo.

"We cannot be intimidated," he said.
