Aguilar the latest to join 1,000 offensive rebound club

JAPETH Aguilar achieved another milestone by becoming the latest player to grab a total of 1,000 offensive rebounds in PBA history.

The 35-year-old Ginebra big man reached the feat during the Kings' Commissioner's Cup game against the NLEX Road Warriors last week.

Aguilar had three of his total eight rebounds on the offensive boards to reach the 1,000 mark, earning him another personal feat in his pro career and becoming just the fifth Ginebra player in franchise history to earn the distinction.

Too bad, the Kings lost the game against the Road Warriors in overtime, 120-117.

There was no denying Aguilar however, when he was formally recognized by the league of the honor during halftime of Ginebra's 122-105 win over NorthPort on Sunday night at the Philsports Arena.

Commissioner Willie Marcial handed out the special-crafted plaque to the veteran big man in the presence of Ginebra governor and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) sports director Alfrancis Chua and NorthPort governor Eric Arejola.

Ironically, Aguilar failed to tally an offensive rebound during the game where he finished with seven points.

He became the latest to join the elite 1,000 offensive rebound club and the eighth player still active after Asi Taulava, Rafi Reavis, Arwind Santos, Reynel Hugnatan, June Mar Fajardo, Kelly Williams, and Calvin Abueva. (RG)
