Anthony says chemistry key to Batang Pier's back-to-back wins

Sean Anthony credited his stirring first half showing in GlobalPort's lopsided win over Blackwater to the way his team has performed in the last two games following a 0-2 start in the PBA Philippine Cup.

Anthony knocked down all of his six triples in the first half, helping the Batang Pier seize control right from the get-go before posting a 101-76 victory over the Elite Friday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.

The eight-year veteran finished with 22 points, a far cry from his three-point showing in the 78-70 triumph at the expense of Rain or Shine last Jan. 12 that was forgotten when he also produced 12 rebounds and 13 assists.

"Offense is going to flow, we got guys who can shoot, and some games they won't drop like last game for me, but other games it will," Anthony said. "But as long as the ball moves, and we take the right shots, and play together, we'll get the win."

Stanley Pringle and Kelly Nabong took the scoring responsibilities from Anthony in the second half and finished with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Anthony echoed coach Pido Jarencio's satisfaction with the defense GlobalPort has played in the two games, something he and the rest of the team wants to continue ahead of their showdown with defending champion San Miguel on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"We started off poorly with NLEX, we kind of grew and had a good game against Ginebra but fell through the end, then we've been building on our two wins, and a lot of it's the chemistry," he said.

"We have a lot of new guys, so many new guys, a new coach too, so our chemistry's building, it's getting better every day." (JT)
