Barroca adds feather to his cap with 5,000-point record

MAGNOLIA veteran guard Mark Barroca was officially welcomed in the PBA's 5,000-point club on the same night the Hotshots clinched a berth in the semifinals of the Philippine Cup.

The 36-year-old Barroca received a specially-crafted plaque with a basketball design for the special feat which he achieved in the team's 98-89 victory over NLEX in Game 1 of their quarterfinal series.

Commissioner Willie Marcial handed out the award to Barroca at halftime of the Hotshots-Road Warriors' sudden-death on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Marcial was joined at centercourt by Magnolia team manager Alvin Patrimonio, NLEX executive Ronald Dulatre, and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) sports director Alfrancis Chua.

The Hotshots later won the game against the Road Warriors in overtime, 112-106, to clinch a semis berth and a best-of-seven showdown against defending champion TNT Tropang Giga.
