Bolick hopes Ginebra still sluggish after long break

ROBERT Bolick hopes to catch Barangay Ginebra still in a vacation mode as the surging Road Warriors face the Kings in their PBA Commissioner's Cup debut on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Coming off a sizzling performance in a 104-99 come-from-behind win against defending champion San Miguel Beer in the team's previous outing, Bolick is keeping his fingers crossed the Kings would be coming into their 730 p.m. game still rusty after a month-long break from their Governors' Cup finals campaign.

"Siyempre excited. Mas maganda rin sa amin kasi first game nila so baka nangangapa pa sila," said Bolick of the Kings. "Baka may chance kaming manalo."

Unlike the Kings, the Road Warriors have begun to heat up in the mid-season conference, winning their last three games after initially losing to Northport in their first game.

The last one against San Miguel saw them rallied back from a huge 19-point deficit behind the hot-shooting of the 32-year-old Bolick.

The former San Beda star caught fire in the fourth quarter where he fired 20 of his game-high 39 points to lead NLEX to the stunning victory.

NLEX coach Jong Uichico echoed the same belief as Bolick.

"Mahirap kalaro yung Ginebra back-to-back (with San Miguel). Nakapahinga sila, e." said Uichico. "That's why we should be ready. Hope we would play the same." (RG)
