Bong Ramos laments his team's lack of enthusiasm

Blackwater coach Bong Ramos lamented his team's lackluster performance in Friday's crushing 102-75 defeat at the hands of quarterfinals-bound Meralco.

Ramos felt the Elite took a step back after displaying a determined effort amid their struggles in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

"Parang nakuntento (sila) sa last three games na nag-improve kami," said Ramos. "Para akong binitawan sa ere."

The Elite allowed the Bolts to score 35 points in the second quarter on nearly 70 percent shooting from the floor, before trailing by 41 twice in the fourth.

It was perhaps Blackwater's worst performance since Ramos was tapped to replace Leo Isaac after a 0-3 start. The Elite had been playing well the past three games prior to Friday's defeat, nearly stealing victory over NLEX and top-ranked Rain or Shine.

Their lone victory this conference was against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok last June 6 when Henry Walker's jam in the final seconds gave the Elite an 86-84 win.

"Sabi ko sa kanila nagtutulungan tayo dito at may learning process tayo, pero di dapat tayo makuntento sa magandang game sa Magnolia at saka sa Rain or Shine na sinasabi niyo na kung si Walker nakapaglaro, tatalunin (natin) si Rain or Shine," said Ramos.

Blackwater almost scored an upset win over Rain or Shine last June 8 until they lost Walker to a shoulder injury in the first half.

Ramos can only hope that the Elite would display some intensity on June 4 when they meet defending champion San Miguel in their final game of the conference.

"Parang di kami pumunta sa game," added Ramos.(JT)
