Cabrera banners Terrafirma 3x3 team

TERRAFIRMA is among the first teams to fill up a roster for the pilot PBA 3x3 competition, tapping old mainstay Roider Cabrera to lead a mix that also includes former Blackwater forward Matt Salem.

Coach Raymond Tiangco takes the rein in the Dyip 3x3 squad that also features Dhon Reverente, Jay Javelosa, Jebb Bulawan and Emman Custodio.

"They're training with the team. Sumasabay din sila in our practices in Batangas," said Terrafirma governor and PBA board vice chairman Bobby Rosales.

Cabrera is bringing with him in his Terrafirma return the experience gained in the Chooks To Go 3x3 tourney.

The 6-foot-2 Adamson U product was not lucky to be drafted in the 2014 PBA draft exercise but was able to hook up with the GlobalPort Batang Pier then with Terrafirma.

After his stint with the Dyip in 2018,he drifted to the minors and had his tenure of duty with Petra Cement Roxas for which he won a Two-Point Shootout crown.

Cabrera and his teammates are eagerly looking forward for the PBA 3x3 kickoff which could happen a month after the opening of the PBA 5x5 that is being eyed late June or early July.

"If everything goes according to plan, PBA 3x3 will open a month after we open the PBA 5x5. Target date is second week of August," PBA 3x3 chairman Dicky Bachmann said.

The plan is to hold four legs in Season 1 of the standalone PBA 3x3 league. (SB)
