Castro, Pascual admit official made a wrong call

THE foul called on TNT guard Brian Heruela against Magnolia's Paul Lee late in the second quarter of Game 3 was a wrong call according to the PBA's technical committee.

"We made a wrong call, we admit that. No excuses," said Eric Castro, the league's deputy commissioner.

"We have to move on and do a better job in the next games, plain and simple."

The incident took place with three minutes left in the second quarter when referee Kenny Hallig whistled Heruela, who challenged Lee's three-point attempt.

"Admittedly there was no contact. But things like this happen. Referees are humans. Magkakamalit magkakamili sila. But their mistakes don't go unpunished," Bong Pascual, the league's head of officials explained.

In the case of Hallig, PBA Commissioner Marcial said he was dropped from the list of game officials for the best of seven titular series where TNT Tropang Giga lead the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots, 2-1.

Meanwhile, the technical committee, after a thorough review of the collision between Magnolia's Jackson Corpuz and TNT big man Troy Rosario, has upgraded from FFP1 to FFP2 the foul called on Jackson Corpuz with no suspension.

The collision led to a bad fall by Rosario, who suffered a spinal shock and a fractured finger.
