Chot Reyes taps Arana, Ildefonso, De Liano and Mamuyac for inclusion in Gilas training pool

GILAS Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes on Sunday tapped four aspirants in the 2021 Annual Draft for inclusion in the national training pool.

Reyes named Justine Arana, Shaun Ildefonso, Javi Gomez de Liano and Gian Mamuyac virtually, ahead of this year's Draft at the Robinsons Place Manila.

Reyes clarified that the selection of the four players is unlike the Gilas special draft done before, but an agreement between the PBA and the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to shore up the national training pool preparing for the country's hosting of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

"Arana, Ildefonso, Gomez De Liano and Mamuyac remain part of the PBA Annual Draft. They can be picked and signed by any of the 12 PBA teams," said Reyes , who has yet talk to the four

Reyes is currently in Vietnam with the Gilss Pilipinas team competing in the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

"They will be on standby and ready when the need arises," he added.

The Gilas coach emphasized that the four players will be allowed to practice and play for their mother team. The SBP in turn can avail of their services whenever needed.

Upcoming schedule for Gilas Pilipinas is the second window of the FIBA World Cup in New Zealand.

The second Asia-Oceania qualifier takes place in July.
