Compton believes Aces can still turn series around

Alaska coach Alex Compton believes the Aces could still turn things around despite trailing the Magnolia Hotshots in their PBA Governors' Cup titular series.

The Aces are down, 0-2, in the best-of-seven series but Compton insist his team is far from finished.

But while the Alaska coach remains optimistic about their chances, he agrees that his Aces will have to minimize on their turnovers.

Alaska committed 25 errors in Game 1 and turned the ball over 26 times in their 77-71 loss to the Hotshots in Game 2 Friday.

That's a total of 51 miscues in two games.

"That's the prime story of the first two games of the series," Compton conceded.

Import Mike Harris, Vic Manuel, Chris Banchero and Simon Enciso had their game going in Game 2 and the Aces appeared to have a great opportunity to tie the series.

But they blew it. Crucial turnovers in the third and fourth quarters enabled the Hotshots claw back and get away with the win.

"That game was what I expected Game 1 to be like, and expected the series to be," said Compton. "But if we turn the ball over 26 times, that's just huge. I just think that we better take care of the basketball."

Compton knows well that Alaska's season will be on the line in Sunday's Game 3, and he vowed to keep the Aces' fighting spirit.

"We're gonna keep going and we're gonna keep growing, and that why it's a series. I don't think it's over yet," he said. (JT)
