Desiderio joins pool of PBA Draft aspirants

PAUL Desiderio became the latest blue chip player to join the pool of aspirants in the upcoming 2018 PBA Rookie Draft.

The University of the Philippines guard submitted his draft application on Friday bringing up the number of applicants for the Dec. 16 Draft to 45.

The 21-year-old playmaker is coming off fresh from a championship stint with the University of the Philippines he led to its first UAAP Finals appearance in 32 years.

Desiderio averaged 13.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals in his fifth season with the Fighting Maroons, who settled for a runner-up finish over eventual champion Ateneo Blue Eagles.

He also did well in the PBA D-League, helping Go for Gold claim the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup championship.

Desiderio's entry further bolsters the pedigree of the coming rookie class which also includes CJ Perez, Bobby Ray Parks, and Robert Bolick. (RL)
