Docs say Troy Rosario shows no signs of serious injury, but doubtful to play Sunday vs. Ginebra

TNT KaTropa hopes to see Troy Rosario make a quick recovery after he was rushed to the hospital due to a bad fall in Wednesday's 74-72 loss to Phoenix at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Rosario was attempting to grab a rebound with 11:36 left in the fourth quarter when he landed face first to the floor after teammate Kelly Williams bumped Fuel Masters rookie Jason Perkins during a battle for positioning.

The Gilas Pilipinas standout sustained a cut on his chin but was sent to the Makati Medical Center for further treatment.

KaTropa coach Nash Racela said a doctor informed him that Rosario showed no signs of any serious injuries but had to be kept under observation as a precautionary measure.

"Okay naman siya," Racela said. "Good signs, no fracture or dislocation. May wound lang na malaki. I-observe pa siya kasi ang lakas nung bagsak niya e."

It remains unclear whether Rosario can see action on Sunday when TNT faces Barangay Ginebra San Miguel at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in a game that has playoff implications.

Tied with Ginebra, NLEX and Phoenix for fifth at 4-4, TNT seeks a big victory to stay in the hunt for the top two spot and a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarters.

The KaTropa are also scheduled to face the GlobalPort Batang Pier on Feb. 14 at the Big Dome and the Road Warriors on Feb. 28 at MOA.

"If you study our conferences last year, we were always in the middle of the pack, and we just made a good push toward the playoffs and in the playoffs, so it's still the same plan," Racela said. "Hopefully with what we have now, we can still have a good run towards the playoffs." (JT)
