THE PBA All-Star is veering away from its traditional North versus South format.
Fans will now have a say on the 24 players who are suiting up for the two teams playing in the March 9-12 festivities to be held in Passi, Iloilo.
Voting starts from Jan. 25 to Feb. 15 through online and in game venues.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said the set-up is similar to the one being used by the NBA during its annual All-Star game.
"Mamimili ang fans ng 24 (players). Kahit na anong position. Dun sa top 24, yung dalawa gagawin nating captain ball," said Marcial during a media briefing at the halftime of the Converge-NorthPort Governors' Cup game on Sunday at the Philsports Arena.

"Yung dalawang captain ball mamimili sila ng players doon sa 22 (na natira) para makabuo ng team."
A coin flip will be used to determine which of the two captain ball is going to pick first.
The two coaches handling the All-Star teams will also be determined through fan voting, according to Marcial.
"Yung top two (to be voted) yun ang magiging coach nila," he said.
A Rookie-Sophomore-Juniors All-Star game will also be held to be determined through fan voting, too.
