For Magnolia import Romeo Travis, duel with San Miguel Beer just another game

Romeo Travis will treat Magnolia's faceoff with San Miguel Beer as just another game even as the Hotshots try to keep theirs hot streak going in the PBA Governors' Cup.

The match is set Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena with the defending champion Hotshots seeking a fourth straight win in five games. The Beermen, on the other hand, are unbeaten in three games and determined to keep their record clean to enhance their bid to complete the coveted Grand Slam.

Travis, though, disagreed that the result of the match could affect both teams' title aspirations.

"It's still a lot of season left. A lot of things can happen," Travis said after the Hotshots' 95-90 win over the Alaska Aces Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

"You just go out here and play the game, see what happens and take it for what it's worth. It's not a big game, it's not a playoff game and it's not going to have playoff implications.

"It means something but it's not a really huge game, you know. So we gonna go out here, play hard and see what happens. If we win, great. If we don't, we gonna learn," Travis added.

Magnolia rebounded from its Sept. 21 loss to Meralco by winning its last three outings beginning with a 96-80 romp of NorthPort six days later.

Last Friday, the Hotshots overcame a defensive battle with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters to take a 69-68 victory at the Mall of Asia Arena before frustrating the winless Aces two nights later. (JT)
