Four PBA/Gilas draftees in 'Mission: Tokyo'

ISAAC Go and three other PBA/Gilas special draftees have made it to the Gilas Pilipinas young unit that will carry the flag in the FIBA Olympic Qualification Tournament in Belgrade, Serbia starting June 30.

Jordan Heading, Mike Nieto and William Navarro are the other special draft selections joining the Serbia trip for "Mission: Tokyo."

Tzaddy Rangel and Jaydee Tungcab are staying at home as they missed the cut, joining in the sidelines the injury-hit Rey Suerte, Matt Nieto and Allyn Bulanadi.

Program director and head coach Tab Baldwin, his staff and his Gilas 12 depart for Serbia Thursday night.

Twin towers Kai Sotto and Ange Kouame banner the team that also includes Geo Chu, Dwight Ramos, SJ Belangel, Justine Baltazar, RJ Abarrientos and Carl Tamayo.

The Nationals try to ride the momentum of a six-game sweep in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers on top of a tune-up draw with China as they look to score major reversals in Belgrade in a bid to crack the Tokyo Olympic proper.

They play home team Serbia on July 1 then the Dominican Republic on July 2.

They need to pull off at least one win to have a shot at the knockout semis against anyone among Italy, Puerto Rico and Senegal. (SB)
