Ginebra sinks NLEX to keep quarterfinals hope alive

LEGASPI CITY - Barangay Ginebra snapped a three-game losing skein and pumped life on its playoff aspiration as it topped NLEX, 93-85, in their Petron Blaze Saturday showdown in the PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation here.

The Kings built momentum in the third period and went on to notch a second win against five losses to dislodge the Road Warriors (2-6) at eighth place.

Justin Brownlee fired away 23 points and produced a near triple-double job with 22 rebounds and seven assists against three turnovers.

Japeth Aguilar and LA Tenorio were two other starters who scored in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively, while Greg Slaughter came through with 12 markers off the bench as the Kings got a much-needed win nearing the homestretch of the elims.

Arnett Moultrie piled up a game-high 30 points that went with 19 rebounds but Emman Monfort was the only other NLEX player who ended up with a twin-digit output with 14.

The Kings were ahead by just six at the half, 41-35, before picking up a good rhythm, leading by as many as 19 points before completing the win.
