Kings already in playoff mode

THE PBA Governors' Cup quarterfinals won't start in two weeks' time, but Barangay Ginebra is now in playoffs mode.

For LA Tenorio, everything began Friday night when the Kings edged the TnT Katropa in overtime, 99-96, to formally clinch a berth into the next round.

While the Kings still have two games to play in the eliminations, Tenorio admitted they've already turning the switch a notch higher starting against the erstwhile leader Katropa.

"These are our playoff games already. These last three game are our playoff games already," he said.

"This kind of game will help us going to the playoffs. Yung ganitong mga grind-out game, we don't need blowout game kasi parang wala kaming matututunan. Yung ganitong klase ng game ang kailangan namin sa playoffs."

Ginebra still has Columbian Dyip (Nov. 15) and NorthPort (Nov. 17) for its last two outings in the elims, but the TnT game was already a good warm up for the team, according to Tenorio.

"Big win for us, hindi ko itatago na sobrang laking panalo para sa amin," said the veteran guard, who had 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and a big game-saving play in the final five seconds that clinched the win for the Kings.

The Kings improved to 6-3 overall for solo fourth place and still have a good shot of moving up in the standings should they sweep their remaining two games.

"These last two games playoff mode na sa amin. It doesn't matter kung sino man ang kalaban namin," he said.(RG)
