Kings beat Bossing to the draw for Gomez De Liano

FOR Barangay Ginebra and Blackwater, it's a matter of who gets first.

Coaches of both teams admitted having wingmen Javi Gomez De Liano and Kurt Lojera under their radars late in the first round of the PBA Season 47 rookie draft on Sunday.

It just so happened Barangay Ginebra was the first to pick at no. 8, one notch ahead of Blackwater.

And so the Kings went for De Liano, and the Bossing with Lojera.

"Perfect na sana kung na-grant sa amin si De Liano kasi siya yung tinitingnan namin sa no. 9. One pick away," said Bossing coach Ariel Vanguardia.

"Napaka-suwerte ng Ginebra doon kay Javi Gomez De Liano. Yun talaga ang ina-eye namin sa no. 9. Pina-panalangin namin yun."

But Lojera, a 6-foot-1 wingman out of La Salle and Adamson, is not exactly a bad choice.

Vanguardia was actually surprised he was still available late in the first round.

"Si Lojera very surprising na bumaba ng no. 9, so we pick the best available talent sa no.9 kay Lojera," he said.

"Perfect sana si De Liano kasi naghahanap kami ng mataas na 3, pero si Lojera naman is not push over."

The feeling is mutual for Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

"We're also looking at Lojera, and we've got to make a difficult choice between him (De Liano) and Lojera," said the champion coach.

"We have taken in Javi and Lojera went to the next pick."

"We're also looking at Lojera, and we've got to make a difficult choice between him (De Liano) and Lojera," said Cone. (RG)
