Lassiter anticipates total war in Game 7

MARCIO Lassiter couldn't have best described what Game 7 is going to be between San Miguel and TnT for the right to advance in the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

"It's going to be a war out there," he said.

In anticipation of a tight battle in the final game of Beermen's semifinal series against the Tropang Giga, Lassiter warmed up for it Friday when he knocked in five three pointers in a 103-90 win that allowed the team to survive and forge its first Game 7 in the last two years.

Lassiter ended up with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals in the all-important game Friday at the Don Honorio Ventura State University gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

The numbers somehow made up for Lassiter's five-point production on 2-of-8 shooting in San Miguel's 110-90 loss the previous game.

Although the performance somehow bothered him, Lassiter said he was quick to let go and move forward

"Game 5 just wasn't my night. When I came into the next game, it's a brand new ballgame. I don't think about the last game and just focus on what I could do better," he said.

"Tonight, the defense is kind of collapsing on our bigs, so I got the opportunity to take on the shots," he said. "As my teammates were believing me and giving me passes, I just rode the hot hands."

He certainly needs knocking down those shots once again as total war looms for the Beermen and Tropang Giga, with Game 7 set on Sunday. (RG)
