Meralco guns for second straight win against TNT KaTropa

FOR TnT Katropa, there's not much time to ponder on that stunning loss to a depleted NLEX team in its PBA Governors Cup opening game.

What's in front of the Katropa on their next game is the more urgent matter.

As if the 103-90 setback against the Road Warriors Friday night is not enough, TnT faces yet another daunting task as it goes up against the Meralco Bolts on Sunday when play in the season-ending conference resumes at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

Coach Nash Racela pointed out what went wrong in the team's sorry loss to the Road Warriors, who was without coach Yeng Guiao and players Kiefer Ravena, Kevin Alas, and Asi Taulava.

But given the proximity of the Katropa's game against the Bolts, the TnT mentor would rather look at the future than in the past.

"It's hard to think about that (loss). Ang importante is (for us to) prepare agad for the next game," he said.

"Yun ang hirap kasi yung schedule na binigay we have to play back-to-back."

And even more, the Katropa are up against the Bolts and two-time Best Import Allen Durham, who struggled against Columbian Dyip in their first outing, but nonetheless, managed to pull off a 109-106 win.

Durham put up monster numbers of 26 points and 20 rebounds against the Dyip despite not being in better shape yet, according to coach Norman Black.

That being the case, Racela said import Mike Glover needs to do his share after being dominated by NLEX counterpart Olu Ashaolu, who came through with 33 points and 23 rebounds notwithstanding a partial patella tendon tear.

"I think it was very obvious, the opposing import overpowered everyone. He put up good numbers and I heard he's even injured," Racela pointed out.

Glover meanwhile, finished with 11 points and 15 rebounds, which Racela said the import needed to improve if the team is to get past the Bolts.

"Of course, you expect more. We always expect more from them," he said.

Jayson Castro also made known that Glover has to be more active on both sides of the floor, but likewise stressed the need for the locals to step up and do their share.
"Challenge din sa aming mga locals yun (to do our part)," he said.(RG)
