Nard Pinto out to prove he deserves a spot in Norman Black's rotation

Nard Pinto is looking forward to a fruitful PBA season, now that he's with the Meralco Bolts.

Meralco is Pinto's fourth team in five seasons. He was dealt to the Bolts by the Phoenix Fuel Masters for Jason Ballesteros and a future draft pick -- just days after acquiring him through a trade with the Blackwater Elite.

"Happy ako na may team na nagtiwala sa'kin tulad ng Meralco," said Pinto, who's coming off a breakout season with the Elite. "Sana maganda yung career ko rito, tsaka sana makatulong sa team."

"Sana maganda yung season namin at saka umabot kami kung saan namin gusto makarating."

Pinto said he doesn't mind taking a backseat considering the Bolts guard-heavy rotation that includes Mike Tolomia, Anjo Caram, rookie Trevis Jackson, and Baser Amer.

"Prepared naman ako diyan. Galing naman ako diyan. Lahat naman ng player galing diyan. Konting adjustment lang naman yan. Ang trabaho ko is to play lang," said the Arellano product.

Pinto said he will work hard to earn his spot and prove that coach Norman Black made the right move by taking him in.

"Sa practice gagawin ko lahat para makita ng coaches na deserve ko mabigyan ng oras," he said. "Ako naman basta manalo yung team, at malayo marating, okay lang kung anong role ko."

"Basta ready lang ako lagi 'pag ginamit ako." (JB)
