DON Trollano's only championship was five years ago as a member of the 2016 Rain or Shine team that won the Commissioner's Cup under coach Yeng Guiao.
The quiet but effective forward found himself reunited with Guiao and former ROS teammates, JR Quinahan and Jericho Cruz at NLEX as part of a three-team trade that involved Blackwater and TNT Tropang Giga.
Trollano rekindles with fondness his partnership with Guiao, Qui?ahan and Cruz and said he can't wait to get back on the floor and help his new team this coming PBA season.
"Always naman akong motivated every game. Then, na-trade ako kina Coach Yeng. Yung last naming pagsasama nanalo kami ng championship. Sana maulit. Then kasama ko pa ulit sina JR (Quinahan) and Jericho (Cruz). Hopefully, manalo ulit," said Trollano.
Getting the chance to coach Trollano, according to Guiao, is something he looks forward to.
"Whenever you succeed with a certain group, there's always that bond, there's always that memory of you doing good things together. Mayroon akong ganung attachment sa pagsasama namin ni Don," added Guiao.
In last year's Philippine Cup bubble tournament, Trollano averaged 14.18 points and 8.45 rebounds to lead Blackwater in points and rebounding.
Guiao acknowledged how Trollano has improved five years since he last coached him.
"Malaki na yung improvement ni Don in terms of polishing yung skills niya, yung basketball IQ niya, even physically. He's become bigger and stronger. He plays with a lot more maturity. Malaki talaga inimprove niya," added Guiao. (RJ)
