PBA supervisor of officials, stats chief work FIBA Clark games

PBA supervisor of officials and technical head Bong Pascual and chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III are among PBA individuals rendering service in the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers in Clark on June 16-20.

Table officials Jun Bayais and Luigi Dulo, barker Noel Zarate and other league staff members Lito Mendegoria and Anthony Redona will also be in the Clark bubble, helping out in the country's hosting of the FIBA play.

Six PBA special draft selections - Isaac Go, Mike Nieto, Jordan Heading, Tzaddy Rangel, William Navarro and Jaydee Tungcab - are among those who entered the bubble Sunday, underscoring PBA's commitment of support to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and to its mission to fly the Philippine flag high in international competitions.

Rey Suerte and Matt Nieto, special PBA Gilas draftees in 2018, are out due to injuries.

Go, Heading, Rangel, Navarro, Tungcab and Mike Nieto are candidates for the roster coach Tab Baldwin is fielding in two games against South Korea and one against Indonesia.

Pascual, meanwhile, will be among three Filipino international referees in the officiating crew in the five-day event featuring a total of 12 games.

Pascual is to work on the FIBA Clark bubble ahead of his duties in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Victoria, Canada late this month and in the Olympic proper in Tokyo in July.

He is veteran of two FIBA World Cups and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Mangonon, the PBA stats chief for over two dacades now and a FIBA-licensed stats instructor, is leading his own team to work on all FIBA Clark games.

And so do Bayais, Dulo, Mendigoria and Redona in their own chores.

Bayais and Dulo will work as table officials while Mendegoria and Redona will help as support staff members, tending court sanitation and disinfection, among others. (SB)
