Pringle gladly shares BPC award with entire Barangay Ginebra team

FOR Stanley Pringle, winning an individual award is not all about statistics.

Bottom line remains helping one's team to be consistently on top and from there, everything will follow.

"I believe you shouldn't really look at your stats unless it's turnovers or maybe field goal percentage. "But like I said, I ain't really looking at my stats. I'm here to help the team win."

It's exactly the formula Pringle followed in winning his first ever Best Player of the Conference award which was bestowed on him Sunday night during the special PBA Awards Night at the TV5 studio.

The veteran guard beat out Phoenix's Matthew Wright (1,640-1,578) for the highest individual honor given out for the Philippine Cup bubble conference.

Pringle, 33, actually trailed five of the other top contenders for the award in the players' statistical points standings, which was topped by TnT Tropang Giga's Ray Parks.

But he emerged as the Kings' most consistent performer in the bubble as he submitted numbers of 18.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 steal a game on the way to steering the franchise to its first all-Filipino championship in 13 years.

Proof that basketball is a team game, Pringle was quick to share the highest award he received so far in the pro league to the entire Barangay Ginebra unit.

"As far as awards, your teammates are going to put you in a position to win, so it's just as much as their award as yours," he stressed.

"So shout out to all my teammates. That's it, it's their award, too."
