Rain or Shine edges Phoenix in preseason game

Rain or Shine survived a tough stand from Phoenix to come away with a 95-91 victory Monday in a preseason tune-up game at Upper Deck Gym in Pasig.

Chris Tiu came off the bench and shot 5-of-8 from 3point range to finish with 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists to pace the Elasto Painters.

Dexter Maiquez also showed his worth with 20 markers, three boards, and three dimes, while Ed Daquioag was all over the floor with 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists in the win.

Beau Belga and Maverick Ahanmisi added 14 points apiece for thr Elasto Painters.

LA Revilla had the chance to win the game for Phoenix with 3.0 seconds left, but he could only muster a split from the line to tie the game at 83. Tiu then missed his try at the buzzer as the game went to overtime.

Jeff Chan failed to respond with his own three as Ahanmisi hauled down the rebound and dropped both of his freebies to put the game out of reach, 93-89 with 13.0 ticks remaining.

Chan topped the Fuel Masters with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists, but only shot 2-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Fourth overall pick Jason Perkins impressed with a double-double of 13 markers and 10 boards, while Willy Wilson had 12 points and eight rebounds for Phoenix. (DL)
