RK Ilagan, another Tondo boy, seeks to make his mark in the PBA

WHEREVER RK Ilagan goes, he will always be taking Tondo with him.

And as he pursues his dream of making it to the PBA, the 5-foot-7 sharpshooter knows that he has the support of his neighborhood as he seeks to be the newest son of Manila to make it to the PBA.

"Malaking karangalan sa akin na dala ko ang pangalan ng lugar namin at masarap sa feeling kasi alam ko na naka-suporta silang lahat sa akin," offered Ilagan, who is from Gagalangin, Tondo Manila. said as he joins the loaded pool for the upcoming PBA Rookie Draft.

"Lahat ng tiga-dito, excited na sa Draft. Kahit yung mga di masyado nanonood, manonood daw sila para suportahan ako."

Ilagan is easily one of the best shooters in the amateur ranks today, a testament to it was his exploits with the San Sebastian Stags.

During the NCAA Season 95, he rose to be one of the league's best scorers, posting 15.8 points per game on 32-percent shooting from threes, alongside 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in 29.2 minutes.

His exploits helped the Golden Stags reach the Final Four.

Apart from San Sebastian, Ilagan also drew attention during his stints with Che'Lu Bar and Grill, Valencia City Bukidnon, and APEX Fuel Mindanao in the PBA Developmental League.

Ilagan said the moral support he gets from Magnolia guard Paul Lee, who is also from Tondo, certainly boosts confidence.

"Sabi ni kuya Paul sa akin, dapat alagaan yung katawan ko at wag magpabaya kasi yun ang puhunan namin. Sipag lang talaga para maabot yung pangarap," he said. (RL)
