RoS looks forward to season restart as Yap, Rosales return

LIKE everybody else, Rain or Shine is looking forward for the PBA to finally resume the season.

Although teams are now in its second week of workouts, Elasto Painters coach Caloy Garcia believes there's nothing more like playing the game itself.

At the moment, teams are working out by batches composed of four players, a coach or trainer, and a health officer.

While that may be better than nothing, sooner or later teams should really get a feel of scrimmages or full contact practice.

"Hindi puwede yung pa grupo-grupo lang. If we can try to get back as quickly as possible and have contacts and scrimmages, kasi yun talaga ang makaka-sharpen sa mga players," said Garcia when he appeared with NLEX counterpart Yeng Guiao in the program Sports Page.

"Even us coaches can already gauge players by that time."

By the middle of September, the PBA plans to write the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases) another letter of request to finally allow teams to hold full-contact practices.

Garcia felt the Elasto Painters are all looking forward to finally play five-on-five games.

I think everybody wants to play already, that's one thing," he said. "We can only get better, if we play together."

This developed as two main cogs of Rain or Shine in two-time MVP James Yap and Kris Rosales are bound to return to the country and join the team in its daily workouts.

"Everybody wants to play, kahit one conference lang," said Garcia. "I don't see any team or anybody saying huwag muna this conference, or ituloy na lang natin next year." (RG)
