ROS, Terrafirma out to snap losing skid as E-Painters and Dyip clash

WHICH between Rain or Shine or Terrafirma gets to snap out of its funk would be known Sunday when they clash in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Following a perfect 3-0 start in the season-opening tournament, the Elasto Painters saw themselves dropping back-to-back games against Alaska and TNT, the last via a 69-79 count just last Friday.

Worse off are the Dyip, who have yet to win after three starts.

Both teams must go into battle with just a day of preparation.

The match was actually originally slated last July 23, but that had to be called off when Terrafirma had to go into isolation per the league's health and safety protocols.

The same measures were enforced early Saturday afternoon, which prompted a schedule change from an initial schedule that had RoS initially set to go up against TNT.

The combatants know that shifting focus is a must in these uncertain times and more so now that their main stars are facing their own struggles.

After leading RoS in its first three games with a 17.0 ppg average, Rey Nambatac has seemingly hit the dumps by totaling just nine points on 4-of-26 field shooting in the games against Alaska and TNT.

Joshua Munzon is in his own dilemma. After a breakout game versus NLEX in which he scored 24 points, Terrafirma's top pick overall in the rookie draft injured his left hand in the third quarter of an 83-105 loss to Magnolia also last Friday and remains doubtful for Sunday's game.

Should their main men continue to be stifled, it should be now up to the teams' other players to step up and each has at least one visibly more than willing.

Javee Mocon has already bounced back from a scoring drought against Alaska with a 22-point performance in the TNT game.

For his part, Roosevelt Adams is coming off a career-high 25 points, on top of 11 rebounds, against Magnolia. (NC)
