Slaughter included in Gilas Pilipinas SEAG roster as replacement for Pogoy

Greg Slaughter will replace Roger Pogoy's in the Gilas Pilipinas' 12-man lineup for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Coach Tim Cone has included the seven-foot slotman in the roster as Pogoy has been ruled out of the biennial meet after being diagnosed with a bulging disc.

Pogoy sustained the injury during TNT KaTropa's 2019 PBA Governors' Cup quarterfinals clash against the Magnolia Hotshots last November 26.

Slaughter is also coming off a thumb injury that forced him to sit out for two weeks but returned in time for the quarters of the season-ending tournament and helped Ginebra end San Miguel Beer's grand slam hopes.

Cone said Slaughter's inclusion will be announced during the SEA Games Manager's Meeting Tuesday afternoon.

Slaughter was also part of the SEA Games basketball team in 2011. He was part of the Sinag Pilipinas squad coached by Norman Black that won the Philippines' 14th gold in the tilt.

The inclusion of Slaughter beefs up Gilas's frontline that features fellow Gin King Japeth Aguilar, reigning PBA five-time MVP June Mar Fajardo, Christian Standhardinger, Troy Rosario, and Vic Manuel.

The Nationals will make its debut versus Singapore on Wednesday, December 4, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. (JB)
