SMC teams all negative after COVID test

ALL tests came out negative for the entire San Miguel Corp. family.

Results of the swab tests conducted on players and officials of Barangay Ginebra, Magnolia, and San Miguel were finally released Monday and none among them came out positive of COVID-19.

The tests were done last week through the initiative of no less than SMC President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Ramon S. Ang.

"Kinakabahan papunta ng hospital and kinakabahan (nung procedure) kasi first time ko lang ma-test," said veteran Magnolia guard Mark Barroca of the experience.

Other than the negative result, Barroca was also delighted at the opportunity of having seen again his Magnolia teammates during the testing.

"Masaya kasi nakita ko yung mga teammates ko at mga iba pang PBA players," he said.

Following the test of the three ballclubs, SMC through Ang, also offered to have all 41 personnel of the PBA undergo COVID-19 testing courtesy of the conglomerate firm.

Commissioner Willie Marcial and the rest of the league staff were tested last Saturday.

Taking the cue from its corporate rival, the three teams under the Manny V. Pangilinan group will also be doing testing to ensure the safety and health of all its players, coaches, and officials

Meralco was the first to have the procedure on Monday, with NLEX scheduled this Thursday.
