Tale of two heroes

FOR their honesty and dedication, a taxi driver and an airport cleaner joined the growing list of so-called PBA 'Heroes.'

Lino Beruico and Sixto O. Brillante Jr. were honored by the league for both turning over a large amount of cash while doing their daily chores.

Beruico returned the bag left by a Korean passenger identified as 67-year-old Yeong Seon Cho, in his taxi which contained valuable belongings including passport, and cash money amounting to P200,000.

Brillante, an airport cleaner of Manila Allied Management Service Cooperative, on the other hand, did the same when he was informed of a sling bag left by a passenger while he was mopping the floor near the immigration area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The bag yielded a wallet, ipad, and seven thousand three hundred euros ( EUR 7,300), which later turned out to be owned by a Turkish passenger.

Upon learning about their deeds, the PBA lost no time to get in touch of them and invite the two to watch the Commissioner's Cup finals between San Miguel Beer and TnT Katropa.

The league provided Beruico and Brillante free tickets at the Big Dome and gave them PBA freebies while being feted during the first quarter of Game 6.

It was learned later that Beruico surrendered the bag owned by Cho at TV5 station where the Korean and the driver personally met.

As a sign of gratitude, Cho gave Beruico a total of P40,000 cash reward, which reduced the long-time driver into tears.

Brillante meanwhile, was commended by no less than Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal.
