Tenorio hopes to finally regain old game shape

LA Tenorio has kept intact his streak of consecutive PBA games played even after nursing an appendectomy procedure two weeks before the season restart.

Now with his 'Iron Man' record taken care of, his next concern is regaining his playing condition.

Despite suiting up in all of six Barangay Ginebra games in the Philippine Cup bubble, the 36-year-old veteran guard has not gotten back his real game shape.

"Medyo kulang pa talaga sa game shape," he admitted. "Yung second wind medyo matagal makuha yun. Mahirap tiyempuhan."

The Ginebra playmaker went through laparoscopic surgery just days before the Kings left for Manila to enter the Clark bubble.

While it wasn't really a major operation, the procedure still kept Tenorio from doing heavy physical activities and only got the clearance from doctors to play on the eve of the team's first game in the Philippine Cup against NLEX on opening day.

That allowed Tenorio to suit up against the Road Warriors and preserve his record streak of games played in the league which now stands at 647 after the Kings' last outing against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Although coach Tim Cone has managed his playing minutes the past few games, Tenorio was finally unleashed during the team's 85-82 overtime loss against the Elasto Painters when he played 37 minutes and scored 10 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

Tenorio could only hope he continues to get better.

"Slowly but surely, hopefully in the next few games, makuha ko rin," he said in his guest appearance in the show Sports Page straight from the bubble.
