TNT goes for third straight win against struggling Phoenix

THE TNT Tropang Giga seek to continue their winning ways as they duel with Phoenix Super LPG on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. in the 46th PBA Philippine Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The Tropang Giga came out of a 13-day layoff due to health and safety protocols victorious last Friday, going 2-0 at the expense of skidding Rain or Shine, 79-69.

That comeback game, according to coach Chot Reyes, was a test of the team's character after spending isolation and undergoing retest in line with league protocols.

"We knew that these things were possible," said Reyes, whose team beat Terrafirma 86-79, in their season debut last July 17 yet.

"We're playing in very difficult times. We're in a very different situation. So, we said that this was going to be a testament to our agility, our versatility, and flexibility as a team.

"Sabi namin, it shouldn't bother us. Yes, it was very unfortunate, but again, we just had to stay the course and focus on the things that are within our control," he added.

Coinciding with their return to action, the Tropang Giga unleashed fancied Fil-Am rookie Mikey Williams against ROS.

It was "far from impressive" as the No. 4 pick overall coughed out seven points on a 2-of-10 shooting to go with two rebounds and three assists.

But Reyes and TNT are not rushing their ace freshman, who came on board when the season was already underway.

"We anticipated that he would struggle. We talked about it and he knew it himself. So, we all just have to be patient and continue building," he said.
