FIVE teams are introducing new imports in the coming PBA Season 46 second conference.
Newly crowned Philippine Cup champ TNT Tropang Giga, with McKenzie Moore, leads the list that includes Meralco which is bringing in Shabazz Muhammad to sub for resident import Allen Durham.
Also opting for new faces are Terrafirma which enlisted Antonio Hester of the University of Mobile, Blackwater which hired Jaylen Bond of Temple University and NorthPort which acquired Cameron Forte of Portland State.
Bringing back old imports are Barangay Ginebra (Justin Brownlee), Magnolia (Mike Harris), Phoenix Super LPG (Paul Harris), Rain or Shine (Henry Walker), San Miguel Beer (Brendan Brown), NLEX (KJ McDaniels) and Alaska Milk (Olu Ashaolu).
Conspicuously missing from the roster is Durham who is tied up in a commitment with the Ryukyu Golden Kings in the Japanese B. League.
A perennial contender in the Governors' Cup with Durham, the Bolts chase a continuing quest for a first PBA crown with Muhammad who is a legitimate NBA veteran.
Selected No. 14 overall in the 2013 NBA draft, Muhammad played five seasons with the Timberwolves and later with the Milwaukee Bucks.
From 2018, Muhammad has been a fixture in the Chinese league, averaging 29.8 points and 11.2 rebounds for the Shanxi Loongs in 2018-19 and 23.5 markers and 9.3 boards for the Shenzhen Aviators the following season.
Muhammad, Bond and Forte are all 28 years old.
Bond is coming from the Bahraini Premier League with the Al-Muharraq team while Forte is fresh from his stint with the Green London Lightning in the Canadian league. (SB)
