Top 5 Imports of the Week (September 11-17, 2017)

This year's edition of the PBA Governor's Cup has produced one of the more entertaining batches of imports over the last few years. Imports play a great part in the campaign of each team so having the right import is essential for winning a championship. The Governor's Cup have set a ceiling of a 6 foot 5 height limit but that does not limit what the import has to offer with his potential and what he brings to the table.

We highlight this past week's Top 5 Best Imports and how they perform for their respective teams.

Glen Rice Jr. - TNT Katropa

Glen Rice Jr. is on fire and at the same time revealed another dimension to his game which his is passing. Against NLEX, the former Washington Wizard, recorded a triple double with 25 pts 15 rebs and 10 assists and he followed it up with a near triple double vs Star as he notched 43 pts 19 rebs and 9 assts. Clearly, he has what it takes in scoring the basketball while also facilitating the offense of the Katropa. TNT has won 3 games in a row and are now tied for 3rd with NLEX both with 7-3 win loss cards.

Allen Durham - Meralco Bolts

26 pts 18 rebs 6 assts 1 stl 3 blks vs Alaska (September 15)

The reigning Best Import of the Conference awardee continues to be a consistent source of energy for the Meralco Bolts. Allen Durham, shut down the Alaska Aces' hope of making the playoffs in registering a game high 26 points in a blow- out victory last Friday. With his play, he's on his way to another Best Import award but a championship for the franchise is still his ultimate goal.

Justin Brownlee - Barangay Ginebra San Miguel

28 pts 10 rebs 2 assts 2 stls 2 blks 3/7 3PT vs Rain or Shine (September 16)

After seeing their seven game winning streak come to an end against the San Miguel Beermen, Justin Brownlee made sure to bounce back and lead the Gin Kings back to their winnings ways. Against Rain or Shine, the former St. John's University alumnus showcased his all-around versatility on both ends of the floor with 28 points to go along with 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks to help the Ginebra earn their 8th win and a chance to clinch a top 4 slot heading to the quarterfinals.

Henry Walker - Blackwater Elite

19 pts 13 rebs 9 assts 5 stls 5 blks vs Globalport (September 17)

A far cry from his high-scoring outbursts but still effective was Henry Walker. The former NBA veteran was instrumental in leading Blackwater to their 5th win of the conference and clinching a quarterfinal berth. The 6 foot 5 forward scored 19 pts but he made sure to involve teammates, Roi Sumang and new acquisition Allein Maliksi with his 9 assists and help out in the defensive end with his 5 steals and 5 blocked shots against Globalport.

J'Nathan Bullock

33 pts 8 rebs 4 assts 1 blks 3 stls 7/12 3PT vs Phoenix (September 13)
15 pts 11 rebs 4 assts 4 stls vs Ginebra (September 16)

J'Nathan Bullock reminds us of a former Rain or Shine import in Arizona Reid. Same hairstyle, plays inside and out and has a sweet stroke from the outside. Bullock, led the Elastopainters to a 1-1 week. Last Wednesday versus Phoenix he shot 7/12 from three point land and finished with 33 points. Against Ginebra, he was clearly shadowed by Ginebra's frontline and just managed to pick up 15 points. The ElastoPainters will need more from Bullock if they want to keep their championship chances alive.
