Troy Rosario sets return in late February, rules out playing for Team Pilipinas

BOCAUE - TNT KaTropa could be without Troy Rosario until late-February as he continues to recover from a broken nose.

Rosario watched from the bench as the KaTropa absorbed a 90-79 beating against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel to open their campaign in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at the Philippine Arena here.

The 6-7 KaTropa center sustained the injury during a scrimmage against the NLEX Road Warriors before New Year's Day.

Based on his estimation, the injury would sideline him until late February making him also unavailable to suit up for Team Pilipinas in the sixth window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

"Siguro pagtapos na lang ng Gilas yung estimate ko," said Rosario of his return.

The four-year big man said the injury turned out to be serious than initially thought and requires long and careful recovery period.

"Matagal-tagal din yung healing dahil nadurog yung buto," he explained. "Kaya sinabi sa akin na wag kong madaliin kasi once matamaan ulit to, ganoon ulit."

Rosario's absence could make things difficult for TNT in its bid to bounce back from disappointing 2017-18 season. (JT)
