Victolero asserts Magnolia underdog in PH Cup finals

EITHER against powerhouse teams San Miguel and TnT Tropang Giga, Magnolia knows where it stands come the PBA Philippine Cup finals.

"We're the underdog," claimed Hotshots coach Chito Victolero.

"We face a very talented team kahit sino sa dalawa ang makapasok. We're the underdogs. Kaya we need a good rest para makapag-prepare yung legs and minds namin."

The Hotshots were the first to make it to the title series after ousting no. 2 seed Meralco Bolts in their semifinals match up, 4-2. They closed the best-of-seven series with a 93-85 win in Game 6 last Friday.

They now await the survivor of the do-or-die encounter between the Beermen and Tropang Giga and face them in the best-of-seven Finals.

Whichever between the two, Victolero knows it's going to be a grinding battle Magnolia will have to face.

"Wala ka naman doon na pipiliin, e. Sobrang lakas nung dalawang team na yun, sobrang talented. Sobrang deep, so wala kaming pipiliin doon," said the Magnolia coach.

"We're just being happy we're here in the finals and we'll just prepare hard kung sinuman ang makatapat namin."

Magnolia won its lone meeting with San Miguel this conference, 100-90, but lost to TnT Tropang Giga, 83-76.

The Hotshots are in the Philippine Cup finals for the third time in the last four seasons. (RG)
