Williams can't wait to put on a show for TNT

HIGHLY-touted rookie Mickey Williams is ready to live up to expectations as he looks forward to bringing his act to the PBA with TNT Tropang Giga.

The 6-foot-2 playmaker said he's aware about hopes being high on him especially after the Tropang Giga went out of their way to secure the precious no. 4 pick in the recent rookie draft in order to have a shot at selecting him.

He can't wait to finally prove himself on the court.

"Definitely expect an electrifying player who'll definitely do what he does. I love to put on a show," said the 28-year-old rookie.

"Evey level I've been on I've been able to experience and do the things I love to do and that's to play the game. I can't wait to show the fans of TNT and defintely show everybody in the Philippines what I need to do and prove to everybody what I can do."

Williams remains in the US but is now preparing and arranging all travel documents and papers he needed for his flight back to the country.

He's definitely carrying with him loaded playing credentials that included a stint in the NBA G League, a rarity among PBA rookies. Williams suited up for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in 2014-15 and followed it up with a stint with the Canton Charge from 2016-2018.

But Williams, whose late mother hails from Naga, said that while the goal is to win a championship with the Tropang Giga, he also puts premium on the team being able to be on the same page to accomplish it.

"I'm looking forward to just being around everybody and seeing how well we can jell on the court because chemistry is the biggest part of anything in basketball," he stressed.

"Because If you don't have chemistry, that's the team orientation that you need to get far." (RG)
