Williams, Fajardo shine the brightest in Season 46

TNT ace Mikey Williams surely made waves in his PBA debut as he led the league in scoring in Season 46 while San Miguel Beer superstar June Mar Fajardo marked his comeback from injury by asserting himself as the king of the boards.

Williams, who helped the Tropang Giga to the Philippine Cup crown with his Finals MVP-worthy performance, averaged 19.5 points in 36 games to claim the top scoring honors.

The highly-touted Fil-Am, who fired a high of 39 and a low of seven in his freshman outing, outgunned NorthPort's Robert Bolick (19.1) Terrafirma's Juami Tiongson (16.4), Phoenix's Matthew Wright (16.3), Magnolia's Paul Lee (15.5), Phoenix's Jason Perkins (14.76) and SMB's CJ Perez (14.75), the scoring champ of Seasons 44 and 45 while with Terrafirma.

Six-time MVP Fajardo, who missed the 2020 Philippine Cup bubble due to fractured tibia, returned with a bang and posted a league-best 11-rebound average, including a chart-topping 3.9 off the offensive boards.

Ginebra's Christian Standhardinger (9.4) and Governors' Cup Best Player of the Conference Scottie Thompson (9.0) put up strong numbers behind "The Kraken."

Veteran Arwind Santos, who dished out a sparkling performance for his new team NorthPort, was the PBA's best defensive rebounder with his 7.6 average ahead of Fajardo (7.1).

Former MVP Santos led all in shot blocks as he accounted for 1.5 per outing, beating younger bigs Raymond Almazan of Meralco (1.33) and teammate Jamie Malonzo (1.32) for the distinction.

Santos' fellow Batang Pier Bolick showed the way in assists with 8.2 a game ahead of Wright (6.4) and Thompson (5.4).

San Miguel stalwart Chris Ross was tops in steals with 2.0. He actually joined the elite 900-steal club in Asia's first play-for-pay league during the Philippine Cup campaign. (OL)
