Following its loss against Centro Escolar University on Tuesday, Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda is hard pressed to win against EcoOil-La Salle on Thursday in the 2024 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup.
It's definitely a Herculean task, but the Red Lions have no recourse but to prevail over the unbeaten Green Archers (4-0) if they intend to clinch an outright semifinal berth.
Game time is 7:30 p.m. at the Ynares Sport Arena in Pasig City.
The Red Lions absorbed a 72-63 defeat against Tuesday. The two teams are tied at second spot behind Green Archers, who have cemented its place in the semis.
A three-way for first place is possible should CEU and Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda win their respective assignments at the close of the classification round.

If this scenario happens, the Green Archers and the Red Lions will advance outright to the Final Four while CEU will be relegated to the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat advantage.
As it is, the Red Lions only need to win against the Green Archers regardless of how much margin. And Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda can only thank EcoOil-La Salle, which beat CEU by 28-points during their meeting last April 2.
But the Red Lions know well beating the Green Archers is easier said than done. (JBU)
