Abueva delivers as Alaska takes down RoS

CALVIN Abueva came off the bench to score 19 points as Alaska spoiled the bid of the pocket tournament champion Rain or Shine to complete a three-game sweep with a 110-97 victory Wednesday at the Upper Deck Sports Center in Ortigas.

Abueva also had seven rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes while five other Aces scored in double figures to finish the mini-series also participated by the Phoenix Fuel Masters and NLEX Road Warriors on a high note after dropping their first two matches.

Rookie Jeron Teng added 15 points and four assists, Vic Manuel and Ronald Pascual scored 12 points apiece and Simon Enciso and Carl Bryan Cruz registered 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Abueva and Manuel combined for 11 points in the final five minutes after the Elasto Painters, who once trailed by 17 points, moved to within four, 99-95, on a Jeremy King basket.

Ed Daquioag made 18 points and Chris Tiu and Maverick Ahanmisi each contributed 13 apiece but Rain or Shine completed its stint in the short tourney with a 2-1 record, sharing the same record as Phoenix.
