Almazan proves shooting prowess by ruling Long Distance shootout for bigs

BACOLOD - Raymond Almazan reigned as the first ever Three-Point shootout champion (big men edition) in the PBA All-Star festivities presented by Arena Plus Saturday at the University of La Salle gymnasium.

The 6-foot-8 Almazan tallied the best output of 19 points in the finals to turn back the challenge of Dave Marcelo, rookie Christian David, and Isaac Go.

PBA chairman Ricky Vargas, Commissioner Willie Marcial, and Vice Chairman Bobby Rosales awarded the P30,000 prize money to Almazan, who was accompanied by his son at mid court.

David, the rookie player of Blackwater, and Go of Terrafirma, topped the eliminations with 20 points each, but couldn't get going when the title was on the line.

David finished with 15 and Go with 13 in the finals.
