Bey, Hotshots roll to 4th win with big steal over Kings

MAGNOLIA is now 14-0 dating back to the preseason On Tour, pulling off its latest win via a 93-91 come-from-behind jolter over Barangay Ginebra Sunday at the Big Dome.

Tyler Bey and his teammates made a giant fightback from 26 points down and beat the stunned Ginebra side at the finish to make it four in a row in PBA Season 48 Commissioner's Cup.

Bey was wrecking ball, getting the Hotshots back into the game and dismantling the Kings in another Manila Clasico that turned to be a real classic.

The Magnolia prized find, a former Dallas Maverick, scored 16 of his 31 points in the fourth period, including the go-ahead charities as the Hotshots salvaged what's easily the biggest fightback win in the tourney thus far.

It had looked a won ball game for Ginebra at the half with the Kings sitting on a 60-35 cushion.

But the Hotshots clawed back into the fight right in the next period, 64-72, and pursued the chase, finally catching up at 83-all on a Bey floater.

And Bey himself gave the Hotshots their first taste of the lead on a jam, and there's no more stopping the Hotshots from pulling off the steal.

Bey finished with 31 points, 10 rebounds and five steals with Jio Jalalon, a key contributor in the third, winding up with 15 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Mark Barroca was the only other Hotshots to finish in double figures with 13 as Paul Lee ended up with nine markers plus seven assists.

Ginebra starters Tony Bishop (with 21 points and 12 rebounds), Maverick Ahanmisi (21), Japeth Aguilar (12), Christian Standhardinger ( 13, nine and eight) and Scottie Thompson (12, nine and eight) all churned out big numbers but each one tapered off in the second half.

These five players crushed their Magnolia counterparts, 57-17, in the first 24 minutes of play.

However, the Hotshots made the right adjustments in their return from the halftime huddle and foiled the Kings' shot at a 2-0 season start.

Ginebra started its title defense with a 100-86 win over Converge Friday.(SB)
