Dyip rue losing Ferrer to injury

TERRAFIRMA lamented losing one of its leaders to injury.

Forward Kevin Ferrer suffered a torn Achilles tendon Wednesday night and is out of the ongoing PBA On Tour.

The 30-year-old product of UST is set to go under the knife for the major injury that will kept him out for almost an entire year.

The unfortunate incident couldn't have come at a time when Ferrer has been playing well for the Dyip in the pre-season.

At the same time, Terrafirma also lost someone it considered a team leader on and off the court.

"Isa siya sa mga leaders namin yan," said team manager Ronald Tubid of Ferrer, who has two PBA championships tucked under his belt.

"He's one of the stabilizers and one of the vocal players in the team."

Ferrer went down with the injury late in the first half of Terrafirma's 104-92 win over TNT, while he was going for a rebound.

He was later wheeled out on a stretcher and brought to the Cardinal Santos hospital.

Tubid said the loss of Ferrer is a blow for Terrafirma, which nonetheless is taking on the 'next man up' mentality.
