Fuel Masters, Tropa eye triumphant end to long struggle

BOUND to finish down the chart, Phoenix Super LPG and TNT Tropang Giga are now hoping for at least a triumphant end in the PBA On Tour.

And they look to start get going the soonest possible or as early as in their 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Fuel Masters are at 3-6, having lost all their last three outings, while the Tropang Giga are winless in seven matches as they set out for battle in a card ushering in the final two weeks of the preseason series presented by Arena Plus and sponsored by Bingo Plus.

Both Phoenix and TNT are among teams minus core players and are relying on second-stringers, free agents and rookie hopefuls.

Still, coach Jamike Jarin and his troops were in the middle bunch until reeling to successive losses to Blackwater (90-92), Converge (90-104) and NorthPort (86-105).

Worse is TNT, still without a single win while playing minus Jayson Castro, Mikee Williams, Kelly Williams, RR Pogoy, Poy Erram and others.

With their 3x3 players on board the last time, the Tropang Giga dragged the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in a battle but went down to a 100-106 loss in the end just the same.

The question is whether Almond Vosotros, Gwynne Mendoza, Lervin Flores and Ping Exciminiano will be back in harness Wednesday.

Regulars leading the fight for the Tropa are Glenn Khobuntin, Frederick Tungcab, Kib Montalbo, Carl Bryan Cruz and Dave Marcelo.

At the forefront for Phoenix are Sean Manganti, Larry Muyang, Chris Lalata, RJ Jazul, Javee Mocon, Tyler Tio and RR Garcia.
