Lee joins elite 1,000 triples made club

PAUL Lee was officially welcomed to the elite club of 1,000 three-point shots made following a short but meaningful awarding ceremony held at halftime of the PBA Philippine Cup game between Magnolia and Meralco on Sunday.

The 35-year-old Magnolia gunner was presented his plaque by Commissioner Willie Marcial in the company of Hotshots team governor Rene Pardo and Meralco team manager Paolo Trillo.

Former Rain or Shine teammate Raymond Almazan and Meralco players Chris Newsome and Cliff Hodge also showed some love to Lee when they approached Lee at midcourt of the Philsports Arena to congratulate him.

Lee hit his 1,000 triples last week at the Tiaong Convention Center in a 108-102 win over Rain or Shine.

He became only the 10th player in league annals to achieve the mark, but the first Magnolia player to reach the milestone in franchise history.

Unfortunately, the special night was spoiled by the Hotshots' 74-51 loss to the Bolts as Lee was held to just six points on 0-for-3 shooting from beyond the arc.

Incidentally, the 51 points was the lowest scored by Magnolia in its 36-year franchise history. (RG)
